I finally decided to bite the bullet and take a break from Facebook. Thanks to all the controversy around the news feed, someone developed a website and a counter for taking a break from Facebook. To start off this is not a blanket break on all social networks, this is only for Facebook. In case some of my services are connected to Facebook, I’m sorry I cannot disconnect them all.
Keeping the News feed controversy aside; I have no aversion to Facebook. In fact I am one of those guys who believe in the idea of social network and Facebook. Facebook has improved our lives for better. It has shown us the power of sharing and connections. Thanks to Facebook I can keep in touch with my friends and the world doesn’t seem distant anymore. I can travel to any city and find my friend or their friends and hang out with them. I love to share. I just want to experience the difference in my life when I stop using Facebook. It’s kind of my own personal therapy.
I am going to try and chronicle my journey for the next 15 weeks to just keep a track of how I am coping without Facebook. I am curious to see how I’ll use all the free time I am going to get after quitting Facebook. How it’ll change my social interaction with my friends? It’s going to get really interesting. I am really excited and happy to have begun this journey.
In case you want to know why take a break from just Facebook?
What else I’ll be using and why?
Wish me Good Luck Everyone. .!
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Man, my son!
